RTPI and IPC event, Aberystwyth

Infrastructure Planning CommissionAn event organised by the Infrastructure Planning Commission (IPC) and the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) was held in Aberystwyth, Ceredigion on Monday 17 May. Attendees included representatives from councils across Wales, the Welsh Assembly Government and delegates from the Welsh national parks authorities.

Ian Gambles and Robert Upton from the IPC spoke about the role of the IPC and local authorities, anticipated proposals to the IPC and its role in Wales. Alan Southerby from Powys County Council gave an informative talk about the proactive approach the council has taken in providing a guide which outlines the duties of infrastructure developers in relation to public consultation.

In the afternoon, workshops were held to encourage discussion on the role of councils in the application process.
