There are currently 77,500 people employed in the UK power industry. Energy & Utility Skills (EU Skills) is responsible for the generation, transmission and distribution of power.
Our remit starts at the point of production (power station) and ends at, and includes, the meter on the customers property.
In total there are 950 power business units functioning across the UK. The majority are based in England (700 businesses). The vast majority of these businesses are Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), but it is important to note that most of the employees in the industry are employed by the 50 large organisations.
