HANNOVER MESSE 2012 with a line-up of eight leading trade fairs

Boasting an impressive line-up of eight flagship trade fairs which attract exhibitors and trade visitors from all over the world, HANNOVER MESSE is set to reaffirm its unique global standing once again in 2012. It remains without rival as a showcase for industrial technology, with more world firsts on display and more integrated solutions than at any other exhibition venue. For five days in April the focus will be on product innovations, industrial trends and the latest research findings. Here are the eight shows in brief:

Industrial Automation - Halls 7 - 9, 11, 14 - 17
In eight exhibition halls every discipline and every aspect of industrial automation will be fully represented. This is why the leading international trade fair for process automation, production automation and systems solutions attracts such a large audience each year. Visiting professionals come to the show in order to discover what is happening in the world of industrial automation today. High on many buyers' shopping list are integrated solutions for industrial production, while the forum "Energy Efficiency in Industrial Processes" also attracts a lot of interest.

The production automation section of the show will present a wide array of integrated automation solutions, as well as innovations in mechanical and plant engineering and robotics. The displays of electric automation technology will be enhanced by coverage of production-related IT systems. The exhibits in the exhibition halls will also feature in the discussion at the Industrial IT Forum. Here exhibitors will be revealing and discussing their latest innovations in industrial communication as well as IT hardware and software.

Other companies will be exhibiting new solutions in mobile robotics, designed for use in industrial production, public spaces and the service sector. Items of special interest include flying robots, automatic cleaning systems for photovoltaic panels and driverless transport systems. Automation technology forms a key connecting link between all the interdisciplinary technologies featured at HANNOVER MESSE.

Energy, Halls 11 - 13, 27, open-air site
Energy-related issues will play a vital role at HANNOVER MESSE 2012. Energy is the world's biggest trade fair for energy technologies, covering both conventional and renewable energy technologies for generation, transmission and distribution. Echoing the themes of the displays will be numerous special presentations and forums. At the forum "Life Needs Power", for instance, government officials, researchers and energy industry specialists will be discussing current issues and trends. The issues surrounding the upgrading of the existing grid infrastructure will be explored in depth at HANNOVER MESSE, and nowhere more intensively that at the E-ENERGY Center of Excellence. A number of pilot regions selected by the Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs, as well as suppliers of hardware and software solutions for the energy industry, will be presenting solutions for renewing and extending existing infrastructures. These so-called smart grids are essential for the future integration of renewable energy into the supply network. Forming an integral part of Energy is the special display category "Renewables", which covers everything from wind power and bio-energy to photovoltaics, solar power and geothermal energy. Another highlight will be the joint presentation "Hydrogen + Fuel Cells", which always attracts large numbers of visitors with its fascinating displays of stationary and mobile applications.

MobiliTec, Hall 25, open-air site

At MobiliTec attention is firmly focused on electromobility, a technology of major interest for the future. This show offers an ideal platform for manufacturers of hybrid and electric power transmission technologies, battery producers and suppliers of alternative mobility technologies - and a chance to compare notes, share knowledge and make new business contacts. Under the patronage of the Chairman of the National Platform for Electromobility, Prof. Henning Kagermann, a series of experts from industry, government and the scientific community will be discussing the technological challenges and the commercial opportunities at the MobiliTec Forum. Meanwhile, on the open-air site, visitors to HANNOVER MESSE 2012 have the opportunity to try out all kinds of different electric vehicles.

Digital Factory - new location in Hall 7

Industrial software solutions for production and product development and their integration into corporate processes are at the heart of the trade fair Digital Factory, which from 2012 onwards will be held in Hall 7. Digital Factory is widely seen as the show that puts the power of IT behind industry. Today's software tools play a vital role in enabling collaboration between different industrial locations and different industrial disciplines. And the range of exhibits makes it abundantly clear that the industrial applications of IT extend far beyond the standard realm of computer software. Today IT determines the make-up of the products themselves, but also - and increasingly - the process of product development and production. The relocation of Digital Factory to Hall 7, right alongside the displays in Halls 8 and 9, serves to underline the close connection between business IT systems and automation IT, which have in the past been somewhat segregated. The special display "Technology Cinema 3D" has been reworked in terms of both content and stand design, and promises to be a major visitor attraction. It shows how 3D visualization is increasingly becoming the basis for industrial decision-making processes. Also at the upcoming show will be the MES Conference, established three years ago, which will once again demonstrate to production managers from the manufacturing and process industries how they can optimize their production operations.

Industrial Supply, Halls 3 - 6

With its numerous theme parks and lecture/discussion forums, Industrial Supply is an ideal showcase for the subcontracting industry and a platform for discussing and exploring the entire industrial supply chain. With a total of nine theme parks - one of which, "Adhesive Technology", is featured for the first time in 2012 - the leading international trade fair for industrial subcontracting solutions and lightweight construction is broadening its scope for the coming year. This reflects the diversity and range of the subcontracting industry, and its inexhaustible capacity for innovation.

Next year's Industrial Supply will feature extensive coverage of intelligent materials and sustainable technologies. This comes into sharp focus at the special presentation "Lightweight Construction", which highlights a number of new trends - such as the growing use of carbon fibre composites, for example.

Leading suppliers of industrial components and materials will be presenting their latest product developments at HANNOVER MESSE in the context of seven other trade fairs - where the importance of their role as pacemakers of industrial progress will not be lost on other exhibitors. Industrial Supply combines international scope and coverage with expert know-how and the right mix of different branches of industry - all in a single show. Materials and technology know-how, design, development and processes, as well as parts, components and systems - this is what Industrial Supply is all about.

CoilTechnica, Hall 25
The leading trade fair for the manufacture of coils, electric motors, generators and transformers is regarded as the leading international presentation and community platform for the industry. Following the success of the previous shows in 2010 and 2011, CoilTechnica has been further expanded and developed, and now takes its place in the line-up of eight leading trade fairs for HANNOVER MESSE 2012. Big-name manufacturers of coils, electric motors, generators and transformers will unveil their latest innovations at the show. Topics of special interest include the importance of renewable energy for the electrical industry, new opportunities for the electrical industry in the automotive sector and the development of more efficient electric machines.

Industrial GreenTec, Hall 26

Industrial GreenTec is a new addition to the HANNOVER MESSE line-up, and the "Leading Trade Fair for Environmental Technology" makes its debut from 23 to 27 April 2012. For the first time manufacturing industry now has an international platform for the presentation of products, technologies and processes for sustainable, low-carbon production at all stages of the value-adding chain. The presence of big-name exhibitors reflects the fact that sustainable environmental policies are now part of the economic mainstream.
