Planning and Climate Change Bills reach Royal Assent

The first new Planning Act for more than a decade was granted Royal Assent on Thursday, paving the way for a more flexible and responsive planning system for England. Also reaching Royal Assent this week was the Climate Change bill, the only one of its kind in the world and at its heart a legally binding carbon emissions reduction target of 80% by 2050.
